Below are images of most of the work I am showing tomorrow for my MFA follow-up Review. (I did not re-post images of works that are already on the site) So the only thing that you all cannot see is the Video that I made (it's coming soon, soon as i figure out how to upload it. Promise!!!)
Hope you all enjoy my work, I'm really happy with how this semester developed
[by the way, i'm disappointed in how much injustice my digital camera has done to my work. it's much more vibrant and beautiful in person...all of it =( by hopefully you can get the idea ]

Artist Statement
My work is the exploration of self-imposed handicaps, such as the need to permanently augment hair, for example, among female minorities in response to being culturallly dominated. These psychological impressions perpetuate certain actions and habits within ethnic groups that must be addressed. Repression of sexuality, self-sufficiency, and a need for acceptance as super scribed by the dominant culture are all issues that I investigated along with self-hate and insecurity. I expose issues imposed upon women within their own cultures (female genital mutilation) to the forefront in order to promote integrated community through the sharing of similar experiences.
